The Shift Supervisor - Power Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining safe, efficient, and uninterrupted plant operations. This position combines hands-on technical responsibilities with leadership duties, overseeing utility systems and production floor activities. The successful candidate will supervise shift personnel, manage utility systems, and support manufacturing performance while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.Position DetailsSchedule : Rotating 7-day shifts (12-hour days and nights)7 days on (day shifts) → 7 days off → 7 days on (night shifts) → 7 days off
Responsibilities
Operations & Technical DutiesOperate and monitor boilers, air compressors, chillers, and steam distribution networksConduct chemical testing and treatment of boiler feedwater and cooling systemsRun manufacturing equipment, support production as line lead, and complete production recordsRespond to alarms and coordinate with maintenance teams to resolve issuesMaintain accurate operating logs, inspection records, and maintenance documentationSupport outside contractors with machine repairs, upgrades, and installationsLead or assist with mold changeovers and preventive maintenance activitiesIdentify and implement energy efficiency and process improvement opportunitiesEnsure all systems meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirementsSupervisory & Leadership ResponsibilitiesSupervise and direct power engineers, boiler operators, and shift personnelManage production floor operations to meet output, quality, and safety goalsDelegate tasks and adjust staffing based on production and utility needsMonitor production rates, machine uptime, scrap levels, and material usageEnsure compliance with SOPs, safety protocols, and emergency proceduresLiaise with regulatory authorities for inspections, certifications, and complianceProvide training, coaching, and mentorship to junior engineers and operatorsLead or support root cause investigations and implement corrective actionsCoordinate with other departments to maintain operational alignmentApprove and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programsRepresent the facility with inspectors, contractors, and external stakeholdersParticipate in capital planning and recommend equipment upgrades or improvementsMaintain shift reports, downtime logs, and handover documentation
Qualifications
Certification : Power Engineer Certification is requiredExperience : Experience operating boilers, compressors, chillers, and utility systemsPrior experience conducting chemical testing and treatment of boiler feedwater and cooling systemsExperience in a production facility or with EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) systems is an assetSupervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing or utility environment preferredSkills : Strong technical troubleshooting and data interpretation abilitiesEffective organizational and documentation skillsProven leadership and teamwork capabilitiesAbility to make decisions under pressure and manage shift-level operationsMindset : Safety-oriented and vigilant about complianceAnalytical, adaptable, and proactiveCommitted to continuous improvement and operational excellenceComfortable taking ownership and leading by example
