Maintenance Machinist

Cardinal Health Canada is currently seeking a Maintenance Machinist to join our Gananoque Team. The primary purpose of this position is to provide production support in a fast‑paced, highly technical environment. This includes maintaining tool crib Min/Max levels of replacement parts, using our machine shop equipment to support those needs, adjusting, and troubleshooting production machinery, and ensuring overall equipment reliability. The position requires working shifts in a manufacturing environment. Frequent project work such as machine modifications, construction, and installation of new equipment is also required.

The candidate must be able to communicate freely with machine operators, lead hands, supervisors, engineers, and other mechanics daily to improve equipment OEE while ensuring safety and quality targets are maintained.

Shift (Hours): Mon – Fri from 7 am – 3 pm. After 2–3 months, the incumbent will be asked to be flexible as to working other shifts, as per business needs.

Your Contributions to the Organization

• Fabricate replacement parts in the Machine Shop, machine new parts from drawings or broken / worn components.
• Perform CNC programming using CAM software (Mastercam) for lathes and mills.
• Conduct conventional machining using lathes, mills, cylindrical grinders and surface grinders.
• Perform heat treating metals to drawing specifications.
• Order raw materials and tooling to support ongoing machine shop needs.
• Repair production machinery, investigate and determine the root cause of problems working in a team environment.
• Install replacement parts as required, perform necessary setups and adjustments.
• Perform required testing to ensure satisfactory performance.
• Document work and comply with ISO procedures and standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance on production machinery, test machine when assembled.
• Assemble new machinery from engineer’s drawings.
• Ability to interpret drawings and consult with engineering to improve part design.
• Compliance with all applicable procedures, safety regulations (MSDS, PPE – i.e., glasses, shoes, gloves etc.) and training requirements.
• Safety: follow procedures, comply with ESA, ensure equipment is safe for operators, elevate unsafe conditions, injuries, and hazard observations.
• Perform precision fitting and assembly work.
• Engagement: participate in shift meetings and effectively communicate breakdowns and actions taken to resolve.
• Keep production and maintenance personnel informed of daily challenges.

Education / Training and/or Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
• College trade certificate.
• Apprentice to trade certificate.
• Two to four years (2–4) of experience, preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude, operation of machines, lubricants, electrical knowledge.

Pay range: $26.80 – $41.53 per hour (Plus $0.84 shift differential).
