Role Summary
The Senior Industrial Engineer is responsible for providing expertise and direction that drives the e-coat operation and process to an optimum level for producing a quality product in accordance with Modatek’s policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA’s), control plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and supports problem solving initiatives by implementing corrective actions
- Responsible for coaching and leading the ECoat team
- Develops and trains team members with department Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and ensures regular audits for the maintenance of such procedures
- Handles large scale projects from inception to completion
- Initiates actions to prevent the occurrences of any nonconformity relating to product, process and quality system
- Identifies and records any problems relating to the product, process and quality systems and actions accordingly
- Initiates, recommends or provides solutions through designated channels
- Assists in the commissioning of new plants / lines equipment, and other systems to ensure that the introduction into the production facility is handled efficiently and with minimum disruptions
- Assists Quality Assurance Engineers with sample preparation and testing for Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
- Assists, plans and supports Area leaders and Team Members with bi-yearly general maintenance, and upgrades of the e-coat line and waste water unit
- Liaisons between Modatek Systems (purchasing) and supplier of Consigned Products such as industrial coatings products, pretreatment and wastewater chemicals
- Coordinates purchasing activities for laboratory and process upgrade equipment through SAP
- Adheres to Modatek’s Core Values : Integrity, Respect, Trust, Honesty, Fairness and Loyalty
- Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies as Outlined in the Team Member Handbook, Quality and Environmental Programs (i.e. TS16949, ISO14001)
- Understands, promotes and lives by Magna’s philosophies and the Employee’s Charter
- Performs other duties as required
Key Qualifications / Requirements
Post-Secondary Chemical Engineering Degree or DiplomaMinimum five (5) years’ experience in the automotive industryThree (3) years leadership experienceExcellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skillMust have a flexible and creative approach while working in an environment that is dedicated to continuous improvementsExperience with the use of analytical tools such as Value Stream Mapping and standardize work to identify and drive continuous improvementsExperience with parts performance testing for automotive Engineering Standards (General Motors DaimlerChrysler)Working knowledge in Microsoft OfficeAbility to uphold confidentialityDemonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environmentAbility to work overtime to meet customer needsAdditional Information
