Key Responsibilities as the Estimator :
- Review and develop discipline and multi-discipline material and quantity takeoffs
- Evaluate and develop construction rates, subcontract cost estimates, and proposals
- Perform productivity analyses of cost estimates, including comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projects
- Review designs and specifications for cost-effectiveness, and provide recommendations for alternatives where applicable
- Research, source, negotiate, and obtain the best prices and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
- Supply necessary sub-trades and suppliers with required drawings and data
- Field construction-related questions from sub-trades and suppliers
- Assist in completing preliminary (high-level) construction schedules
- Work closely with the Operations and Development teams to prepare, identify, and understand scopes of work and prepare project documentation
- Develop and maintain sub-contractor and suppliers' databases
QUALIFICATIONS :
Post secondary education in engineering, construction estimating, building technology, quantity surveying, or other related coursesMinimum 3 years of experience in construction and cost estimating.Experience completing multi-discipline takeoffs and estimates for a construction company, preference will be given to candidates with General Contractor experienceUnderstanding of building construction from concept to completionUnderstanding of a construction worksite and sequencing is considered an assetAbility to document and organize complex streams of information efficiently and accuratelyAbility to clearly communicate estimating concepts to various individuals in the organizationDemonstrated organizational and communication skills (written, oral, interpersonal)Ability to lead by example and set the standard of professionalismProficiency with computers (Microsoft Office, Timberline, MS Project, Insite) and on-screen takeoffsHigh attention to detailStrong problem-solving, organization, task management, and planning skillsInterested?
