JOB SUMMARY :
The Senior Engineer, Plant Engineering Services South is accountable to research, develop and implement tasks, methodologies, and practices for the corporation. As a member of SaskPower’s management team, this position is responsible for assisting with and / or preparing technical studies, business cases, designs, specifications, tender evaluations, and equipment and construction drawings. This position will prepare project plans, costs, and schedules and provide contract management and project coordination services, ensuring alignment with departmental and corporate strategic goals and objectives.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Supports the Manager, Engineering Services South, by attending plant maintenance meetings, and supports engineering group work planning and monitoring
- Provides technical leadership, support, oversight, and mentorship to engineering and maintenance personnel.
- Supports operations and maintenance though troubleshooting equipment and system issues / failures, and leading root cause analysis of failures.
- Performs engineering, project and construction management, and commissioning on new designs, retrofits, and upgrades to facility electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
- Develops preventative and predictive maintenance plans, and leads inspections and testing of major electrical equipment.
- Assist in the planning and execution of planned and unplanned maintenance outages.
- Assist plant and asset management in the development of maintenance and lifecycle management strategies for critical equipment
- Performs quality review / check of technical specifications, planning, procurement, and schedule by other Engineers.
- Promote Health and Safety in the workplace including formal / informal work observations.
- Responsible for the preparation, review and execution of safe work plans for all activities that have hazards or risks to people, property or environment.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES :
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical EngineeringEligible for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers of Saskatchewan (APEGS)Professional Engineering Designation P.Eng.A minimum of six (6) years post P. Eng. relevant experience that includes :A combination of the following engineering tasks : planning, designing, constructing, operating, commissioning of facilities, management, and coordination of technical aspects of contracts and / or technical coordination of highly complex projectsDemonstrated competency in engineering, maintain knowledge on industry standards, industry trends and developments, internal processes, and proceduresDemonstrated ability to provide recommendations and influence decision makingDemonstration of strong relationships with working groups, committees and technical leaders across the organization and external partnersAbility to provide competent leadership, including, coaching and development of technical staff including engineers, engineers-in-training and other resources as requiredDeep and / or broad experience providing guidance and expertise on complex technical issues.Results oriented thinker, with the ability to manage and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalismAbility to work and manage in a changing environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent facilitation, project management and decision-making skillsAbility to foster a culture focused on safety, innovation, and teamworkDemonstrated skill in SaskPower's CompetenciesMust have a continuing record of professional developmentA suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered
