COVID 19 On-Campus Requirements

Prior to May 1 2022 the University required all students faculty staff and visitors (including contractors) to declare their COVID-19 vaccination status and provide proof that they were fully vaccinated or had an approved accommodation to engage in in-person University activities. The Information Technology Services (IT Services) department is seeking a Junior Cloud Developer to play a hands-on role in designing developing and deploying cloud-native solutions and APIs that power services across the university. You will work closely with our cloud architects data engineers and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into scalable secure solutions all using modern cloud platform tooling. This role is an excellent opportunity to grow your skills in PaaS / SaaS integrations DevOps CI / CD automation and cloud best practices while contributing to impactful projects that support teaching research and operations.

This position assists in the implementation and maintenance of new cloud computing capabilities. This position performs regular system checks and tests to ensure continued compliance and health of cloud computing platforms. This position analyzes data for capacity requirements including testing new protocols and technologies and troubleshooting issues. This position also supports the implementation of new cloud computing capabilities including coordinating the integration of software and hardware and supports the development of automation platforms.

Job Description

What you will do

Assists in the implementation and maintenance of new cloud computing capabilities.

Performs regular system checks and tests to ensure continued compliance and health of cloud computing platforms.

Analyzes data for capacity requirements including testing new protocols and technologies and troubleshooting issues.

Researches and recommends new cloud technology solutions and enhancements including assisting with prototypes and pilots.

Supports the implementation of new cloud computing capabilities including coordinating the integration of software and hardware and supports the development of automation platforms.

Creates and maintains documentation for cloud computing initiatives.

Other duties as required in the support of the department and / or unit.

Required Education

Four-Year Bachelor Degree or addition requires trade certification qualification or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.

Required Experience

More than 2 years and up to and including 3 years of experience.

Experience in cloud computing environment considered an asset (e.g. Platform-as-a-service (PAAS) Infrastructure-as-a-service (IAAS) Software-as-a-service (SAAS) etc.).

Familiarity with software development best practices including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations considered an asset.

Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
