Position
Registered Practical Nurse reports to the Director of Care and is expected to coordinate and oversee all aspects of resident‑focused delivery of care. The RPN provides direct supervision, leadership and education to other members of the healthcare team, acts as a resource advocate for residents, families, and staff, and promotes the values, goals, and philosophy of the Home.
Wage Rate : The starting wage rate is $31.73 / hour.

Responsibilities
- Develop and modify the plans of care in response to residents’ individualized health care needs and changes in health care status.
- Liaise with other health care personnel, agencies and families.
- Maintain good relationships with medical / support / home staff, residents, families and the general public.
- Supervise all activities on the unit, take charge as required.
- Monitor performance and complete performance evaluation for the PSWs and RPNs.
- Direct, assign and evaluate the work of the PSWs.
- May be in charge of the Home as required; utilize leadership skills to identify problems and solve them on the unit.
- Ensure care is delivered consistently with the resident Bill of Rights.
- Understand quality indicators used by the Home and which indicators are publicly reported; participate in improvement of the indicators to achieve satisfactory results.
- Order and ensure nursing supplies and equipment are properly and efficiently used.
- Actively listen to residents and family concerns and take appropriate actions to resolve the issue in accordance with Home policies.
- Conduct unit rounds at the beginning and end of shift.
- Process physician orders and administer medications and treatments in compliance with the policies of the Pharmacy provider, the Home and the Standard of the College of Nurses. Document and report all errors and omissions.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of nursing observations and care in compliance with legislative requirements and Home policies.
- Assess changes in health status and report changes to Substitute Decision Maker (SDM) or POA, and interdisciplinary team.
- Complete health care assessments (RAI‑MDS and other assessments), develop and update plan of care for each resident in collaboration with the resident and / or SDM and the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate understanding of the Ministry of Long‑term Care mandatory reporting and critical incidents and follow steps outlined in Home policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned or indicated in Job Task Inventory.
Qualifications
Current Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse (or equivalent) with right exemption under Bill 60.Basic CPR certification.Experience in a long‑term care setting (an asset).Ability to work with and relate to interdisciplinary team members.Well‑developed written and oral communication skills.Knowledge of RAI‑MDS – AIS certified; if not, must be completed within one year of hire.Evidence of being focused on people’s feelings when interacting and turning tasks into positive social interaction.Capability to meet all legal and human‑rights requirements in a context that promotes individuals’ rights and reduces risk.Complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check (including Criminal Background Check) within six months, or willingness to obtain one.Documented results of TB testing within last six months or within 14 days upon hire, or a chest X‑ray within last year per public health requirements.Two supervisory references required.Proof of all required vaccines; vaccination requirement may change.Benefits
