The Opportunity :

8 month work term (preferred) : January – August 2025

4 month work term : January – April 2025

12 month work term : January – December 2025

How You Will Contribute :

The successful candidate will join the Photonic Product Assurance Team to instrument the software to help gather better performance metrics and develop test automation to capture and analyze these metrics while the system is under test. Specific responsibilities may include :

  • Adding instrumentation to the existing software.
  • Capturing various metrics from a network while it’s under test.
  • Development and maintenance of scripts to automate performance metric captures.
  • Development of various visualizations to present performance data on dashboards.
  • Executing automated test scripts, interpreting, and reporting results and help in debugging problems.
  • Assisting in resolution of problems reported and contributing to improved product quality in functionality, performance, robustness, and hardening areas.
  • Working closely with test engineers, SW designers and systems architects to understand the product capabilities and expected behaviour.
  • Supporting the product verification and integration test teams by developing common tools.

  • The Must Haves :

  • Working towards completion of a Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science degree
  • Previous programming experience on a related school project or other related experience through hobbies, clubs, etc.
  • Working knowledge of scripting and other software programming languages like C, C++, Python, JavaScript, Bash Shell script.
  • Software development and test process, including revision control systems like Git.
  • Familiarity with Linux based workstations and OS.
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, strong communicator, team player, problem solver and ability to multi-task.
  • Assets :

  • Familiarity with software performance concepts is a plus.
  • Compensation and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $24.50-33.00 / hr CAD
