Remote Transcriptionist – Northbound Planning

Northbound Planning is a private planning and development consulting firm that provides community and regional planning and support for municipalities across Saskatchewan.

We are recruiting for the position of a Transcriptionist.

About the Position

Reporting to the Manager of Municipal Services, the Transcriptionist is responsible for producing accurate and timely transcriptions of Board of Revision hearings. The Transcriptionist is provided with an audio file of the proceedings and an automated text download. The Transcriptionist’s role is to listen to the audio and ensure the transcription accurately identifies who is speaking and what they are saying.

This role requires someone who has strong English skills and is a capable writer. The Transcriptionist needs to understand land locations, descriptions and associated acronyms. The ability to understand legislation and regulations is a definite asset.

This is a remote work position. You must have reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated and private work space, as the transcriptions are confidential. You must be computer literate and tech savvy so that you can readily use Microsoft Teams, Zoom and other virtual meeting software, effectively use the transcription software, and download and upload documents to and from OneDrive.

This is a full-time contract position from August to December 1, 2023. The initial training will require the candidate to be available for day shifts (8:00-5:00). After the three days of training, candidates will be able to set their own schedule including evenings and weekends if they prefer, as long as deadlines are met. There is the possibility of the role expanding and becoming a full-time, ongoing position.

To qualify for this role, you will have completed post-secondary education in legal assistant, administration, business or a related field and have 3+ years of office experience. You will be an excellent communicator and have strong computer skills.
