POSITION : Regular Full-Time Computer Technical Support Specialist
LOCATION : Burnaby
SALARY : $25.95 / hour
HOURS : 37.5 hours / week
SCHEDULE : Monday-Friday 8am-3 : 30pm
Knowledge & Skills :
The ideal candidate is resourceful, willing to learn, has strong communication skills as well as empathy. We are looking for someone with previous experience in technical support, Microsoft operating systems, and network configuration.
- This position is responsible for providing training and user support to staff in the use of computer software and hardware programs by performing duties such as diagnosing and resolving problems. Demonstrating and explaining program functions and providing suggestions on work methods.
- Investigates computer hardware problems reported by users; applies routine corrective measures such as restoring default hardware configurations and reconnecting system components such as externals hard drives, printers and communication hubs.
- Performs routine computer software maintenance tasks such as installing software and patches, updating antivirus programs and scanning computers for viruses.
- Conducts data backup and / or restoration as required in accordance with established procedures.
- Monitors LAN, network connections and other network services such as email and internet to ensure they are operational.
- Create and edit organization-wide technical service and support documentation.
- Collaborate with various teams to develop technologies that improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.
- Supporting direct service Managers with administration duties.
- Provide consultation on internal systems, both in person and remotely.
- The ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently is essential. Familiarity with the Community Living sector or non-profits is an asset.
- CompTIA A+ or Network+ certifications are preferred.

Diploma in information technology or computer science. Combination of education in the computer technology field will be considered. Current First Aid & CPR and up-to-date vaccinations are required. A valid unrestricted BC Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
