About the opportunity :
In this technical role, you will provide electrical, instrumentation, and systems support to ensure the efficient operation of the City's potable water, wastewater, stormwater, and District Energy (DES) systems. You will serve as a key resource for SCADA, communications, and the integration and management of operational components, ensuring compliance with City policies, the Canadian Electrical Code, ISA and IEC standards, applicable Provincial and Federal legislation, and recognized safety practices. You will support the maintenance of utility plant and instrumentation at central and remote facilities and contribute to capital and utilities project design and review, project coordination and budgeting, report writing, and data collection. You will liaise with and / or supervise consultants and construction crews, and participate in scheduled overtime, emergency call-outs, and on-call standby as required.
About Your Background :
You are a highly motivated professional with a two-year diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology and an AScT (or equivalent) designation, and a minimum of five years' experience configuring, programming, supporting, troubleshooting, and maintaining SCADA and instrumentation systems, including those used in water and wastewater operations. Computerized maintenance experience is preferred. You also bring experience with power sources such as solar, hydro, and generators, as well as programming and tuning UHF radio equipment. Experience in the design and management of water and wastewater systems, programming traffic controllers, and working in a local government environment are considered assets. A valid BC Driver's License, full privilege Class 5 (or out-of-province equivalent), is required.
