Location : Woodbridge, ON (On-Site)

Compensation : $90,000-$100,000 + Benefits

Experience : 5+ Years

The Role :

As a Senior Property Accountant, you will oversee the financial operations and reporting for the company's residential real estate portfolio. This role offers exposure to global investment portfolios, complex ownership structures, and offers the chance to work alongside a team of talented professionals. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in property accounting, be highly agile, and ready to take on increased responsibilities as the organization continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Property Accounting & Reporting :

Manage day-to-day accounting for residential properties, ensuring accuracy and timely financial statements.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, revenue recognition, and general ledger activities.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and accounting regulations.
  • Yardi System Management :

    • Use Yardi for property management, accounting, and financial reporting functions, ensuring accurate data entry and system updates.

  • Work closely with IT to resolve any system-related issues and improve accounting workflows.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting :

    • Assist with the preparation of property-level budgets and forecasts, analyzing financial performance against budgets and providing recommendations for improvements.

  • Monitor fund performance and suggest areas for cost-saving and revenue enhancement.
  • Client & Stakeholder Communication :

    • Provide insights and reports to senior leadership and clients, supporting key financial decisions.

  • Assist in the preparation of investor reports, capital calls, and other special reports.
  • Leadership & Mentorship :

    • Offer guidance to junior accounting staff and work closely with the accounting team to ensure efficient operations.

  • Collaborate with senior management to continuously improve processes and workflows.

    • What You Bring :

  • Experience :

    • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in property management, asset management, or real estate.

  • Strong understanding of residential real estate accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in using Yardi software for property management and accounting.
  • Education :

    • CPA designation or near completion (final stages of CPA program) is required.

  • Skills & Competencies :

    • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
