Summary of Position
Abalone Construction is a privately owned company with over 30 years specializing in Industrial and Commercial civil construction. We offer construction services in a variety of markets including Infrastructure, Roadbuilding, and Land Development.
Reporting to the foreman, operators are an integral member of field operations, responsible for providing support on all of our projects.
Roundabout : road building, stripping, grading, finish work, reading stakes, gps skills would be an asset. D6 operating, highway improvements
Role and Responsibilities
Operate and maintain the dozer in a safe and efficient manner
Carry out minor maintenance and inspection
Operate dozer controls to regulate height and angle of the blade
Drive dozer in passes over surfaces to raise or lower terrain as specified by the superintendent.
Follow marks on grade stakes or hand signals.
Level soil, rock and debris
Demonstrate clear understanding of roadway plans, drawings and grades
Follow instruction and collaborate with others to complete tasks
Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications, Training and Education
Must have minimum 3-5 seasons with sloping and leveling (finish work)
Must have 5 seasons as a finish dozer operator
Experience operating on commercial and industrial projects is an asset
Gradesman experience is considered an asset
Must have valid CSTS-09, WHMIS 2015, Ground Disturbance and CSA approved 6” steel toe work boots
Hard working, with a positive attitude & a Willingness to learn
Desire to complete tasks in a timely manner
Personal vehicle and valid driver’s license required
Working Conditions
Operators will be working outside in all weather conditions. They must be able to spend long periods of time sitting in their vehicle, or walking / standing on the job site. They must be willing to commit to 50 + hours per week at various project locations, including working most Saturdays. Typical shifts are 7 : 00am - 5 : 30pm.
