Responsibilities :
- Prepare and sand various wooden parts and doors.
- Perform loading, unloading, and on line sanding duties.
- Mark, record, and report any defected equipment, material, or parts.
- Contribute and participate in the effective use of the quality control systems in place.
- Maintain a clean working area free from sawdust and debris between tasks and at the start and end of the production day.
- Work with different materials including engineered wood products, veneers, and fine hardwoods.
- Gather materials required for production.
- Select and verify quality of wood to meet required specifications.
- Use measuring tape, and electronic equipment to accurately measure wood, and mark outlines or dimensions, for cutting and shaping.
- Assist in the production of kitchen cabinets via pre-assembly, and drawer box paperwork and production.
- Sand, detail, and finish assembled materials for shipment.
- Create standard components of cabinets including accessories, dovetails, and parts.
- Ensure fittings and other components are of good quality.
- Attach fittings and other components such as accessories to finished cabinetry.
- Read and interpret blueprints to locate all parts for an order to be completed and organize them by manufacturing date.
- Itemize the paperwork to determine how many of each material piece is needed.
- Gather materials and prepare the quality of wood in advance of the fabrication of parts.
- Sand, detail, and finish fabricated materials.
- Process all required paperwork and maintain adequate records for reporting and tracking.
- Evaluate any shortages and advise the Leader daily.
- Control any damaged or incorrect packaging and have such items returned and repaired.
- May lift cases of product and / or stock merchandise according to documented procedures
- Read and interrupt work orders to package finished goods.
- Use packaging materials to protect finished goods from damage.
- Label and scan barcodes once products are packaged.
- Place finished goods on conveyance belt to be moved to the warehouse.
- Examine products to ensure they are packed with integrity and care.
- Load, unload and move products and materials by hand or using basic material handling equipment.
- Identify and mark acceptable / defective assemblies and return faulty assemblies to production for repair.
Cross-Departmental Assistance :
When necessary, assist in the production of line of other departments including Panel Processing, Assembly, Finishing, Doors & Parts, and Shipping.
Administration :
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment in your area.
- Attend daily morning huddles.
- Contribute and participate in the effective use of the Quality Control System.
