The Opportunity
We are seeking a Shift Supervisor for the Whitby Mill to lead and develop a high performance team of unionized workers to optimize safety, product, quality and line efficiencies within the Mill.
What You'll Do
- Ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with OHS standards, that workers are protected from any hazards and such hazards are identified and controlled, and workers use the prescribed safety equipment.
- Maintain and enforce quality standards and good housekeeping protocols; support operations in third party inspections or audits.
- Coach and performance manage workers with emphasis on frequent communication, feedback and promoting a high level of teamwork and engagement.
- Provide expertise and direction in the determination of equipment, parts and materials needed and coordination of preventative maintenance.
- Foster strong relationships and communication with internal and external departments and stakeholders.
- Coach and enforce specific safety rules and behaviours ensuring timely and accurate reporting of accidents / incidents and proactive prevention measures.
- Provide daily feedback to workers on performance and conduct performance reviews with direct reports.
- Facilitate crew meetings to ensure current safety, quality and production related issues are considered and resolved.
- Administration and application of the collective agreement and company policies / procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience
Post secondary education in a related discipline or 5 years of supervisory work experience in a related field.Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is a pre‑requisite.Excellent verbal communication skills.Proficient with MS Office applications and systems.Ability to organise and prioritise essential tasks to achieve results.Able to work rotating shifts as per operational requirements.Proven ability to remain calm in stressful situations.Ability to liaise with all levels of management and unionised employees.What We Offer

Annual Base Salary Range : $115,000 – $140,000 per year. A candidate’s experience, skills, knowledge and role maturity will be factored into the pay a candidate finally receives for this position.
