This role blends technical excellence with leadership potential.

You will own projects end-to-end, manage roadmaps, communicate with internal and external stakeholders, and make architectural decisions that impact your pod.

Flexibility is key : you may lead one pod part-time while contributing to another, or transition fully into an individual contributor role as project needs evolve.

In addition you will :   Build and adapt full-stack and backend systems designed for fast experimentation, quick iteration, and evolving product needs.

Take ownership of projects, ensuring timely delivery and excellence.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Participate in architectural and design decisions.

Lead a cross-functional pod, managing resources, priorities, and roadmaps (for those moving into the leadership path).

Stay up-to-date with AI trends and help integrate AI into our products.

Mentor junior developers and foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

What you bring 5+ years of professional software development experience (full-stack or backend focus).

Experience with security practices and UI / UX considerations.

Prior experience in a startup environment, comfortable “wearing many hats.” Demonstrated ability to take initiative, solve complex problems, and deliver results with minimal supervision.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with internal teams and external customers.

Passion for AI and applying AI to real-world software problems.

Respectful, confident, and collaborative personality, ready to take on leadership responsibilities.

Experience leading projects or mentoring team members is a plus.

Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of delivering results.

Experience in Typescript, React and Back-end frameworks.

We follow the Test Driven Development methodology to write code that is testable, tested, and only does what it needs to do.

We don’t expect you to be an expert in TDD when you start, but we do expect you to become one.

You also own the quality of your own work, and we expect you to prove that with your own integration and end to end tests.  At Mappedin, we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach to how we work.

While we have colleagues around the globe, some roles are best suited for full-time, in-person work at our home office in Waterloo.

This position will require being in office four days per week.
