The Community Support Services department has an opening for Part Time Personal Support Workers at the Fort Frances location. The successful candidate must be able to meet the normal requirements of the job and possess the following :

QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY :

• Completion of secondary school diploma, or equivalency, or the equivalent, knowledge, skills, and experience.
• Valid CPR certification.
• Valid Driver’s License, Class G, and a safe driving record.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Understands and maintains confidentiality.
• Experience working with the elderly in a community setting.
• Ability to assess and respond to client needs and set priorities.
• Ability to work independently, as well as in a team setting.
• Genuine interest and understanding for the care and need of the elderly.
• Knowledge of the resources for seniors available in the community. Dependable with an excellent attendance record.
• Physically capable of performing the essential duties of the job.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

Under the direction of the Manager of Community Support Services (CSS), the Personal Support Worker (PSW) will provide a range of in-home services and support to eligible, high-risk seniors. A focus is placed on providing client centered, client directed and community-based care. As directed by the service plan, PSW will support clients by assisting them to achieve the highest degree of health and independence possible through the promotion and support of activities for daily living.
