Director, National Accounts

Reporting to the VP of Sales - Canada, the Director of National Accounts is a key sales leadership position in Canada, responsible for overseeing the operations, growth, and success of key Accounts (in-store and e-commerce). Responsible for creating a winning go-to-market customer strategy through partnerships with Marketing, Finance & SCM functions that deliver on our business objectives. Member of our Canadian Leadership Team, crafting the ambition & culture of the division cross-functionally to ensure accurate demand projections.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities :

  • Strategic Planning : Develop and execute strategic plans and budget to drive growth, increase market share, and improve the overall performance of National Accounts. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define pricing, promotions, and product assortment strategies.
  • Team Leadership : Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team of National Account Managers. Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to ensure individual and team growth. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork, productivity, employee engagement, and succession planning as warranted.
  • Sales & Performance Management : Set sales targets, monitor performance metrics, and implement strategies to achieve sales goals across key accounts. Analyze sales data, customer feedback, and market trends to identify areas of improvement and implement appropriate actions. Provide guidance and support to National Account Managers, Brand Ambassadors to ensure consistent adherence to sales and customer service standards.
  • Financial Management : Develop and manage budgets for national accounts ensuring cost control and profitability. Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions when necessary. Support retail partners and sales organizations through the S&OP process, ensuring we are forecasting the correct products at the right time.
  • Business Development : Identify potential partnerships, and collaborations, with focus on growing and developing relationships with suppliers, vendors, and other key stakeholders to negotiate favorable terms, secure competitive pricing, and ensure product availability. Explore and implement innovative retail merchandising concepts, technologies, and initiatives to enhance the customer experience and drive sales.

Education and Experience :

  • University Degree or College Diploma level education is required.
  • 7+ years of proven sales and sales management experience in results-oriented environments. Demonstrable experience in developing client-focused, individualized and achievable sales solutions. Sales experience in big box accounts and P&L accountability.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook), and must be comfortable with productivity sales CRM tools (ex. Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen and is financially astute.
  • Must have effective public speaking skills, presentation skills and have presence.
  • Strong attention to detail while completing customer-specific item agreements and other relevant forms.
  • Demonstrated a strong strategic ability with a track record of success in creating strategic sales plans that align with corporate objectives.
  • Able to build and foster long-lasting internal and external customer relationships.
  • A strong prospector, closer and informed negotiator.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills with a proven ability to develop team members.
  • Bilingual (French) is considered an asset.
  • Travel as needed (up to 30%). Valid passport and the ability to travel throughout North America.
