We are looking for an experienced Director of Finance for our client in Vanier. You will provide strategic leadership and oversight of financial operations within the organization. This role involves ensuring compliance with Canadian charity regulations, managing enterprise risk, and delivering actionable financial insights to support decision-making. As a key member of the leadership team, you will collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to maintain financial sustainability and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
• Lead comprehensive financial planning and scenario modelling to align with organizational goals and long-term sustainability.
• Translate complex financial data into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders to support strategic decision-making.
• Oversee the preparation and submission of all statutory filings, including T3010 Registered Charity Information Returns.
• Ensure compliance with donation receipting regulations, disbursement quotas, and other Canadian charity obligations.
• Manage internal controls, audits, and financial policies to uphold transparency and accountability.
• Supervise and mentor a high-performing finance team, including internal staff and external vendors.
• Develop financial business cases to support growth initiatives, new programs, and organizational restructuring.
• Monitor cash flow, reserves, and enterprise risks to ensure they remain within Board-approved thresholds.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with banking partners while managing insurance coverage and debt compliance.
• Collaborate with program leads, development teams, and operations to align budgets and performance indicators with strategic objectives.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial leadership roles, ideally within the non-profit or charitable sector.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian charity regulations, including T3010 filings and disbursement quota requirements.
• Proficiency in financial software systems such as CRM, ADP, and Concur.
• Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
• Proven ability to manage enterprise risks and maintain compliance with legal and financial policies.
• Skilled in developing financial strategies to support organizational growth and sustainability.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial data to diverse stakeholders.
• Experience in managing and mentoring teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
We do require a current Canadian CPA designation. Experience in a charitable non-profit organization is highly desirable. In this role you will report to the Executive Director with financial presentations to the Board of Directors. In this position you will need to be hands on yet strategic and manage a team of three in accounting operations. Very good benefits plan along with a 6% RSP contribution. This role requires a minimum of four days on site with free parking. Starting salary expected to be $118K
