Opportunity
PCRS seeks an experienced Youth Support Worker (YSW) Shift Lead for Traverse, a 24 hour, 20 bed, youth bed‑based treatment program in Chilliwack. The successful applicant will be part of a multi‑disciplinary team, providing leadership, mentorship to staff and direct care support to youth participating in the program. Traverse operates from a trauma‑informed, youth‑centered lens. The Shift Lead models and supports approaches that promote safety, consistency, choice, collaboration, and empowerment for youth and staff.
This position involves supporting staff on shift, crisis management, scheduling, direct care to program participants, and providing coverage for team lead. The Shift Lead supports, mentors, and provides learning opportunities for staff on shift. The shift lead also provides one‑on‑one support, transition planning and leads group activities including home group, recreation outings, chores and room cleaning, room and wellness checks.

This position supports the YSW team who work in the evenings and on weekends. There will be on‑call work, evening, and weekend work.
The position is an on‑site position and not available for a remote or hybrid work arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Provide direction and support to staff on shift following PCRS policies, protocols and procedures
- Mentor and orientate new staff
- Coordinate service delivery and programming
- Work with the YSW Team Lead to ensure overall operations and service delivery aligns with contract expectations
- Develop supportive and engaging relationships with youth
- Assist youth in maintaining program expectations such as attending meetings, leading behavior management conversations, maintaining room cleanliness, supporting participants to attend programming and maintaining connection with other youth support workers.
- Provide life skills support and lead group activities.
- Create and maintain a group delegation schedule and follow up / collaborate with staff about their assigned groups the week prior.
- Assist in planning, organizing and coordinating recreation in collaboration with staff for Wednesday, Friday and Saturday outings.
- Ensure appropriate shift handover from evening staff to overnight staff
- Support with creating YSW schedule alongside YSW team lead and manager
- Maintain accurate case notes, monitoring youth progress, engagement, and participation in the program; other administrative tasks will be required.
- Participate and engage in a collaborative and effective staff team
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and staff and participate in team efforts
- Participate in professional development and training
- Model trauma‑informed practice, including calm presence, de‑escalation, and reflective responses to behaviour
- Support staff in using trauma‑informed language and strategies during moments of distress or conflict
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, combined with at least one (1) year experience in a leadership role or CYCC or related diploma, 2 years’ experience and 1 year experience in a leadership roleAn equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.Criminal records check, including the vulnerable sectorClass 5 Driver’s licenseUse of own personal vehicle with business use insurance (mileage paid)Drivers abstractAdditional Assets
