What you’ll do

Generation Engineering has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer to join our team at BC Hydro’s Edmonds office in Burnaby, BC. As an experienced Professional Engineer with expertise in Protection and Control (P&C) design, you will :

• Lead detailed design of electrical generation protection and control systems as Professional of Record (POR), Project Engineer, or Owner’s Engineer, including : electrical protection, generator / turbine control and monitoring, communication networks, water conveyance and spillway control systems, and safety instrumented systems.
• Support Mandatory Reliability Standards (MRS) compliance activities, including NERC CIP.
• Manage work packages across a range of projects, including : work coordination, planning and scheduling, resource management, specification writing, capital cost estimation, technical direction, and support during installation and commissioning of P&C equipment.
• Develop innovative design solutions for complex challenges, including legacy system upgrades and integration of modern automation technologies.
• Review work by project teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to engineering standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development.
• Contribute to the development and review of internal engineering standards.
• Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to align priorities, assess impacts, and resolve issues.
