Competition : (2024-477-CC) Overnight Support Worker Employment Type : Part-time, Bargaining Unit (1 Vacancy) Work Hours : Saturday and Sunday from 12 am - 8 am Work Setting : Onsite Salary : F : $24.00 / hour Application Deadline : December 11, 2024, by 11 : 59 pm Program Overview – Supportive Housing, Community Care - 540 Cedarvale Avenue The Cedarvale Supportive Housing Program provides housing for seniors who have been street-involved, and who may be experiencing mental health and / or addictions issues. The program provides onsite psychosocial, primary care supports and services including intensive case management; harm reduction and addiction support; therapeutic and supportive counselling; 24-hour staffing; assistance with activities of daily living; nursing services; life skills development; social and recreational activities; volunteer opportunities; and follow up support. What You Will Do Ensure the safety of the building and its occupants after regular business hours. Monitor activities in the common areas and the outside perimeter of the building through the security cameras / visual inspections and responds appropriately. Implement crisis response strategies, including de-escalation, support, debriefing, etc. when necessary. Complete hourly rounds on the participant floors. Provide after-hours supportive counselling to residents when required. Re-direct any visitors and responds to issues appropriately. Perform lock up and alarm duties in accordance to established procedures. Respond to the 24-hour resident personal alarm system according to appropriate procedures. Understand how to operate, trouble shoot and contact the 24-hour response team for the emergency response system as necessary. Carry out appropriate First Aid responses, when necessary. Work effectively with other team members, including on site Personal Support Workers, to address resident and building issues. Complete a detailed participant activity log & shift exchange, reporting any incidents, occurrences, health and safety risks, status of resident community, resident interpersonal conflict. Understand risk management procedures and responds professionally and appropriately. This includes, but is not limited to responding to all emergency situations, such as managing a resident emergency (e.g. illness, fire in the unit or building), or emergency that affects building operations (e.g. elevator breakdown, power failure). This position will include some evening and weekend shifts monthly and is subject to exposure to second-hand smoke, odors, pests and clients’ potential use of inappropriate language or swearing. Able to lift 40lbs What You Bring to the Team 2 Year diploma in social services or certification in security. 3+ years of experience working with older adults and / or seniors with mental health, addictions issues, and street involvement.
