The City of Brampton is Canada’s 9th largest city, with a population of approximately , residents. It is one of the fastest growing cities in Canada, and Brampton’s growth represents 90.2% of the net population growth within the Region of Peel (between and ). The City of Brampton is a diverse community with cultures speaking languages. It is also one of Canada’s youngest cities. The City is located northwest of Toronto, within close proximity to Toronto Pearson International Airport. Position / Responsibilities
The City of Brampton is recruiting a Development, Planner III to join our Planning, Building and Growth Management team. This leadership position is responsible for reviewing major planning proposals, being a team leader for community block plans, conducting site inspections to ensure compliance, and liaising with City departments and agencies. The managing of the approval process will include preparing reports for and making presentations to the City’s Planning and Development Committee, Committee of Adjustment, and Council. Additionally, the Development, Planner III will also be expected to provide advice, guidance and instruction to Planner I and technical assistants.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role possesses four to eight years in land use planning with demonstrated knowledge of complex projects (i.e. community block plans, subdivision plans, official plan and zoning amendments, sites plan approvals, part lot control by-laws, variances and consents, plans of condominium). High school graduation plus an additional program of 3-4 years or equivalent and Full Membership with both the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP), and a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation with the Ontario Profession Planners Institute (OPPI) is required. Alternatively, the candidate is to be eligible for full membership, and will be required to achieve the full membership within 2 years of having commenced their role in the position. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service is required. Superior organizational, time and project management skills are also required.
