Under the general direction of the Program Manager, the Physiotherapy Assistant / Occupational Therapy Assistant (PTA / OTA) is responsible and accountable to provide person-centered care for assigned patients / clients under the direction and supervision of the regulated health professional (supervising clinician) and performs associated functions to support service delivery. As a member of a team, the PTA / OTA participates in profession-specific and interprofessional activities that are directed towards a person-centered environment and contribute to operational efficiency and professional and program development. Within this role, the PTA / OTA may work autonomously in a variety of settings, including the community, providing services to patients / clients and families by following the treatment plan developed and assigned by the supervising clinician. Thorough knowledge of scope of practice and of the role and standards of practice of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists is critical in this role.

Skills And Qualifications Required

• Dual Physiotherapy Assistant / Occupational Therapy Assistant certificate from a recognized Physiotherapy Assistant / Occupational Therapy Assistant Program
• Minimum six months of experience in each of OT and PT settings, preferred
• Valid Ontario Driver’s license may be required
