AtkinsRéalis is currently seeking an intermediate Piping Stress Analysis Engineer to join our Candu Energy Inc. engineering team in Mississauga, Ontario.
Overview
This position requires an individual who is self-motivated and capable of working independently or under the instruction from senior technical engineers. The candidate shall be able to follow the instruction from a qualified professional engineer to complete the assigned mechanical related scopes or tasks and develop necessary engineering design documentation as required.
Your role
- Perform pipe stress evaluation of piping systems in accordance with ASME Section III, Div.1, and / or ASME B31.1 / B31.3 code requirements, including thermal, fatigue, seismic, linear and non-linear analyses.
- Prepare engineering computations and analyses using applicable software (e.g., PipeStress, AutoPipe, Cesar II, MathCAD, GT STRUDL, ANSYS).
- Review of technical documents and drawings (e.g. General Arrangement, isometrics, pipe supports, flow diagrams and P&ID), calculations, design / analysis reports, design requirements, design manuals, bill of materials, design specifications, technical specifications, data sheets, etc.
- Support to prepare TSSA CRN registration packages for pressure boundary systems.
- Function as technical interface with client, suppliers, inter-discipline engineering teams, construction partners and project managers.
About you
Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering degree from an accredited university (or PEO‑recognized equivalent), with registration or eligibility for Professional Engineer (P.Eng) status in Ontario; eligible for required security clearances and Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) status.5–10 years of engineering experience in heavy industrial sectors (power, mining, oil & gas), with design experience in piping and piping supports; nuclear plant experience—including Class 1 / 2 / 3 / 6 systems—is a strong asset.Working knowledge of CSA B51, ASME B31.1 / B31.3, ASME Section VIII, ASCE, NBCC, AISC, and ideally CSA N285.0, CSA N289, ASME Section III; familiarity with nuclear regulatory requirements and pressure boundary standards is preferred.Experience with stress analysis tools such as PipeStress, AutoPIPE, Caesar II, MathCAD, GT STRUDL, and exposure to advanced methods like time‑history / water‑hammer analysis or seismic / buried pipe evaluations; ability to apply engineering principles to solve technical problems.Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities, experience working in multidisciplinary environments, and (as assets) experience supervising small engineering teams, performing support design for steam / Balance‑of‑Plant systems, and preparing for ASME Appendix XXIII qualification.Reward & benefits
