About the opportunity :
In this challenging position, you will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems for the City of Prince George. You will ensure that safe work practices are followed while installing, repairing, maintaining, and constructing underground and above-ground water, sanitary, and storm services. Additionally, you will inspect and maintain fire hydrants, valves, catch basins, and manholes. This role requires shift work, as you will respond to public calls and handle emergency situations. This is a term position, and the duration is unknown.
About your background :
To be considered for this position, you should have a Grade 12 diploma and ideally hold an EOCP Level 1 Certification in Water Distribution System Operation & Maintenance or an EOCP Level One Certification in Wastewater Collection Systems. Alternatively, sufficient hours towards obtaining either certification will be accepted. If you do not have an EOCP certification, you should have at least one season of experience in utilities or a related field. You value a strong commitment to safety and customer service excellence, along with the ability to identify problem areas and facilitate effective problem resolution. The successful incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a clear Police Information Check for offenses related to the position. A baseline hearing test is required.
