Position Summary
As the Clinical Education Supervisor within our Clinical Education team, you will be an integral part of a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team focused on delivering seamless services and programs.
You will be responsible in maintaining professional and ethical standards of nursing, providing expertise within the realms of assessment, practice, education and training.

What you'll be doing
- Provide education and training to nurses and other disciplines through various modalities (classroom, tutorials, consults, e-learning) across all Homewood clinical areas (Health Centre, The Residence, National Treatment partners and relevant stakeholders)
- Collaborate with colleagues and the Clinical Management Team to develop, implement, and evaluate education programs to enhance professional service for staff, clients, families, with Homewood and partnering stakeholders
- Develop and present educational programs to internal and external customers. Liaise with external stakeholders, including Universities, Colleges, other learning institutions etc.
to promote, expand, and redevelop clinical education programs
Demonstrate an advanced knowledge base regarding DSM classification system, psychiatric, mental illnesses and addiction, family systems, evidence-based treatments, and community resources;
in relation to consultations and clinical teaching
- Coach and mentor clinical staff in the delivery of evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and in the delivery of core program elements such as process groups, and trauma-informed approaches to care.
- Supervise Clinical Coordinators, including support to recruitment, orientation, and on-site training.
- Develop and maintain unit activity boards, schedules and guidelines
- Direct and evaluate staff performance and requirements for effective and efficient clinical care and programming.
- Assist team members, Patient Care Coordinator, Program Managers and Nursing Leadership in identifying learning needs specific to program, give feedback, and participate in Performance Improvement and Learning Plans on professional practice and clinical issues
- Facilitate staff engagement on relevant clinical issues to guide and manage services appropriately and effectively
- Maintain and enhance expertise by updating own professional knowledge through participation in workshops, seminars and courses
- Conduct literature reviews, communicate research findings and current knowledge related to addictions and mental health
- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities. Bring Professional Development suggestions and opportunities to the Homewood Leadership Team
- Assist Program Managers to ensure Accreditation Canada standard
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's or Master's in relevant Social Sciences, Nursing or other health related discipline
- Must hold valid registration with relevant college / governing body in Ontario that allows the performance of the controlled act of psychotherapy or in pursuit of relevant credential (CRPO, OCSWSSW, CNO etc.)
- Mental Health Nursing certificate preferred for Nursing candidates
- Minimum 5 years' experience with mental health and addiction required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in formal or informal leadership role
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, and Personal Health Information Protection ACT (PHIPA)
- Ability to conduct comprehensive mental health assessments (including mental status examination and risk assessment) with development of crisis and discharge plans
- Excellent coaching, mentoring, presentation and leadership skills
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adapt to changing priorities and expectations
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and sustaining partnerships
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Excellent verbal and written English language skills; French is an asset
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel and comfortable working with different types of electronic technology
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development, ongoing education and integration of research into clinical practice
- Strong knowledge of problem solving techniques and facilitation skills
- Understanding of Lean principles and Quality improvement measures
