Job Summary
The production scheduler in our Windsor Mold Tooling facility operates at an operational level within a plant to support the manufacturing process. Their role is to translate the master schedule into detailed daily or weekly production plans. They work closely with production teams, supervisors, and operators to ensure that production targets are met efficiently and on time. Production schedulers monitor factors such as machine availability, manpower resources, material availability, and production capacity to develop realistic schedules. They may also be responsible for adjusting schedules in real-time to accommodate unforeseen events such as equipment breakdowns, material shortages, or changes in customer orders.
Job Responsibilities
- Developing Production Schedules : Creating detailed production schedules based on the master production plan, considering factors such as available capacity, manpower resources, material availability, and production lead times. Ensuring that production schedules are realistic, achievable, and aligned with customer demands, inventory targets, and production capacity.
- Coordinating with Cross-Functional Teams : Collaborating closely with production teams, supervisors, procurement, logistics, and other relevant departments to coordinate production activities and ensure smooth execution of the production plan. Communicating production schedules and any changes to relevant stakeholders to facilitate alignment and minimize disruptions.
- Monitoring Production Performance : Tracking and monitoring production progress against established schedules and targets. Identifying and addressing any deviations or bottlenecks in production processes that may impact schedule adherence or product quality. Analyzing production data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.
- Managing Production Priorities and Changes : Prioritizing production orders based on urgency, customer requirements, and production constraints. Managing changes to production schedules due to factors such as equipment breakdowns, material shortages, or changes in customer orders. Implementing strategies to minimize the impact of disruptions and ensure on-time delivery of automotive parts.
- Inventory Management : Working closely with inventory control teams to maintain optimal inventory levels while minimizing excess inventory and carrying costs. Monitoring inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to support production schedules and customer orders.
Job Qualifications
Education : A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Manufacturing Engineering, or Logistics.Any other degree will also be considered if it provides a strong foundation in production planning, scheduling principles, inventory management, and other relevant concepts.Specific courses or certifications in scheduling software tools and techniques may also be advantageous.Work Experience : Relevant work experience in production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations may be preferred.Industry Knowledge : Familiarity with the automotive industry and understanding of automotive parts manufacturing processes is a requirement.Proficiency in computer software applications commonly used for production scheduling, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and scheduling software.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze production data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies can also be advantageous.Benefits
