Responsibilities
- Support the branch manager and manage branch activities; lead associates to provide friendly, helpful service, and generate profitable sales.
- As a branch leadership team member, achieve sales and profit targets, manage budget, forecast sales, and analyze reports, trends, and community needs. Identify market changes, reduce expenses, and communicate associate sales results and guide interpretation.
- Create, with the leadership team, operational plans, priorities, delegation, and clear directives for managers and associates; guarantee optimal in‑store conditions, effective merchandise presentation, accurate pricing, and standards that comply with Company guidelines. Implement new programs, evaluate effectiveness, monitor inventory, identify stock‑flow issues, and take corrective action. The assistant manager is trained for multi‑functional roles across the store as needed.
- Execute and monitor asset protection and security controls; maintain quality insurance standards; supervise safety, operations, and compliance reviews, ensuring adherence to Walmart procedures and best practices for security, sales, finance, and records. Anticipate and proactively address compliance issues.
- Act as a store ambassador to customers—welcome, gather feedback, address needs and complaints, and resolve issues to create positive shopping experiences. Provide training and guidance to associates on courteous, attentive customer‑service techniques.
- Support store initiatives to serve the community by participating in events and developing relationships with community groups; support sustainability programs commissioned by the Company.
- Lead associates by holding regular in‑store meetings, communicating operational directions and initiatives, inspiring engagement, recognizing achievements, and providing growth opportunities. Identify high‑potential associates and provide training to enhance skills.
- Demonstrate Company values by holding managers and associates accountable, providing honest, timely, respectful feedback, and corrective actions. Build and manage relationships with support staff, district teams, and specialists.
- Comply with Company guidelines in merchandise handling—including alcohol, firearms, narcotics, high‑price items. Ensure proper money controls, processing daily cash up to $250,000.
Skills and Qualifications
