Description de posteKnowledge of theory, values and practices in community living including support systems Demonstrated ability to advocate, provide personalized support and teach life skills to residents Ability to work alone and unsupervised, as well as part of a team Ability to perform lifts and transfers of clients Effective interpersonal communication skills Basic computer skills preferably experience with Microsoft Office To advocate for individuals and families so they obtain needed support To teach individuals and families self-advocacy skills To advocate for support and change within the systems that affect residents and their families Positive role model including modeling a healthy lifestyle Empathy, warmth, and understanding Ability to work effectively with families, staff, volunteers, and organizations Physicians health reference and NegativeTB test Current, satisfactory criminal record search The successful candidate will begin employment at the Marchmont Residence : Monday-Friday 9 : 00am 12 : 00pm This position is open to all qualified individuals and requires Union membership Applicants may request that a Union observer sit on the selection committee in the capacity of a disinterested party If this position is advertised externally, closing date on external advertisement shall prevail This position will remain open until a qualified candidate is found May be required to use personal vehicle Successful applicant must acquire Class 4 drivers license in order to pass the three-month trial period

Salary : $25.95 - $29.76
Job Summary : The Residence Worker provides care for the individuals in the group home and participates as part of the team responsible for implementing all aspects of the residents program, including the organizations policies, procedures and philosophy. On both an individual and group basis, the Residence Worker supports the quality of life for residents by ensuring that their physical, social, educational and health needs are met.
Education, Training and Experience
- Community Support Worker Certificate or equivalent
- Three months experience delivering similar services
- Experience in supporting individuals with disabilities in a group home setting
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification
- Food Safe Certificate
- Class 5 drivers license (Class 4 preferred) and own vehicle
