Job Summary
Trane Technologies is looking for a Digital Applications Specialist to join its team. The role focuses on hardware and software design activities for building automation systems, applying engineering principles to deliver cost‑effective control solutions and working closely with the Project Manager and project team.
What You Will Do
- Design building controls using direct digital controls across various building types for electronic comfort and automation systems.
- Obtain and review contract documents, including proposals, mechanical plans, specifications, estimates, and equipment submittals for system design.
- Create installation drawings, submittal drawings, as‑built drawings, and transition documentation to service.
- Develop advanced sequences of operations that meet project requirements.
- Generate Operation & Maintenance manuals, review contract documents, conduct field surveys, and review equipment submittals.
- Transition documents to the field.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of Trane Controls products and applicable third‑party devices.
- Prepare cost estimates and assist BAS technicians with wiring/programming, electrical terminations, commissioning, graphic development, testing, and start‑up.
- Work with minimal supervision and guide other engineers as needed.
- Maintain customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective actions, communicating with staff, and providing solutions.
What You Will Bring
- Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction, Engineering Technology, or equivalent; or 5+ years of HVAC industry experience in project management or estimating; or a combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with HVAC system operation, building automation systems, and/or temperature controls.
- Understanding of new‑construction and renovation/retrofit concepts, performance contracting, and service project management.
- Proficiency with Windows OS and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with drafting/design software.
- Knowledge of industry standard protocols and integration requirements.
- Understanding of IT infrastructure and network architecture.

Schedule & Work Environment
Standard schedule – 4 days in‑office (Monday–Thursday) and 1 day of flexible work location (Friday).
