About the Opportunity
This position is a member of the Urgent Care Service (short term follow up services), Mental Health and Addictions. Reporting to the Manager of Mental Health and Addictions, the clinician provides advanced assessment, intervention, brief follow up and care planning for urgent care clients across the lifespan, with the goal of stabilization and connection to necessary mental and addictions services as required. Clients may be transitioned from the emerge department crisis team and / or from other services or departments both internal and external to Nova Scotia Health.

- Permanent full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
About You

Master’s degree in a clinical health-related discipline - Master’s in social work, Psychology (Registered, Masters), Master’s in Counseling, Master’s in Nursing, Master’s in Occupational TherapyCurrent registration with relevant provincial regulatory bodyDemonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used (DSM-5) for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disordersDemonstrated knowledge and skills in providing individual and group evidence informed therapies based on care plan to clients with mental illness, substance use disorders, and / or concurrent disordersDemonstrated knowledge and skills in collaborating with families in relation to sharing information and implementing family-sensitive services that involve families in the care and recovery of people living mental illness and addictionDemonstrated knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide, and violence risk assessment / interventionNon-violent crisis intervention and suicide risk assessment preferredDemonstrated awareness of community resources and programsExcellent problem-solving, organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasksHigh level of written / oral / interpersonal communication skills; experience with conflict resolutionAbility to work effectively in multiple software applications requiredDemonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary teamCompetencies in other languages an asset, French preferredTwo years related clinical experience (including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention and discharge planning) is required. If not available, candidates with less than two years’ experience may be considered for the selection process. If offered employment, they will be placed on the Clinical Therapist (Dev) HTH scale

Compensation and Incentives
Clinical Therapist
37.31 - 49.05 hourly
Clinical Therapist (Developmental)
33.27 - $42.01 hourly
