About the Opportunity

This position is a member of the Urgent Care Service (short term follow up services), Mental Health and Addictions. Reporting to the Manager of Mental Health and Addictions, the clinician provides advanced assessment, intervention, brief follow up and care planning for urgent care clients across the lifespan, with the goal of stabilization and connection to necessary mental and addictions services as required. Clients may be transitioned from the emerge department crisis team and / or from other services or departments both internal and external to Nova Scotia Health.

Permanent full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following :

Master’s degree in a clinical health-related discipline - Master’s in social work, Psychology (Registered, Masters), Master’s in Counseling, Master’s in Nursing, Master’s in Occupational Therapy

Current registration with relevant provincial regulatory body

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used (DSM-5) for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders

Demonstrated knowledge and skills in providing individual and group evidence informed therapies based on care plan to clients with mental illness, substance use disorders, and / or concurrent disorders

Demonstrated knowledge and skills in collaborating with families in relation to sharing information and implementing family-sensitive services that involve families in the care and recovery of people living mental illness and addiction

Demonstrated knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide, and violence risk assessment / intervention

Non-violent crisis intervention and suicide risk assessment preferred

Demonstrated awareness of community resources and programs

Excellent problem-solving, organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks

High level of written / oral / interpersonal communication skills; experience with conflict resolution

Ability to work effectively in multiple software applications required

Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team

Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Two years related clinical experience (including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention and discharge planning) is required. If not available, candidates with less than two years’ experience may be considered for the selection process. If offered employment, they will be placed on the Clinical Therapist (Dev) HTH scale

Compensation and Incentives

Clinical Therapist

37.31 - 49.05 hourly

Clinical Therapist (Developmental)

33.27 - $42.01 hourly
