THE ROLE
The Learning Services Teacher will assist with case management of high and low incidence students with learning and behaviour goals while working collaboratively with additional LST on staff.? Working collaboratively with classroom teachers to develop instructional and assessment strategies to meet the learning needs of students is also a requirement of the assignment.? A demonstrated ability to develop Individualized Education Plans for students is also required.
North Vancouver School District is seeking applications from qualified Learning Services Teachers in anticipation of our potential needs for the 2022-23 school year. Successful applicants would receive a continuing contract, and would be encouraged to apply in category E.20.6.a for positions for which they have the required qualifications and experience; if unsuccessful through the post and fill process, HR would be in contact with the candidate regarding available positions in the summer. If, after August 15, there is only one position available for which a teacher has the required qualifications, they may be placed into that position. Successful applicants who are not placed by September would be asked to work full in an on-call capacity, replacing daily or extended absences as needed, until a position becomes available.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess valid certification or eligibility for certification through the BC?Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB)
A Bachelor of Education Degree in Secondary Education.
Successful experience teaching at the Secondary level.
Masters Degree or Diploma in Special Education.
Successful completion of a university Level B testing course and related intervention courses. ?
Successful experience and demonstrated ability in using Ministry Special Education criteria to set up and implement adapted and modified programs.
Demonstrated skill in developing instructional and behavioral strategies to assist classroom teachers.
Strong communication skills in dealing with parents, teachers and School Based Resource Team members. Knowledge and experience in adapting and or modifying instruction for students who have developmental disabilities such as autism and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders.

Demonstrated ability to apply relevant computer technologies to teaching and learning.
Collaborates with students, parents and staff to enhance the school as a learning community.
SALARY & BENEFITS
The starting annual salary for a full-time Teaching position ranges from $58,000 to $107,000, with placement on the range based on aggregate teaching experience and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. Salaries are pro-rated for part-time positions.
