About the Role
The Director of Finance & Administration is a senior leadership role responsible for owning the company’s financial management, administrative functions, and compliance frameworks. This role exists to free the President from day-to-day finance, HR, and administrative oversight, while strengthening controls, forward planning, and organizational resilience.
Responsibilities
- Own financial reporting, month-end close, and annual financial statements.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow planning.
- Provide profitability analysis (product, customer, burden rates, quoting support).
- Maintain strong internal controls and financial discipline.
- Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and working capital.
- Coordinate tax compliance, external accountants, and auditors.
- Develop management dashboards and KPIs to support executive decision-making.
Administration & HR Oversight
Oversee payroll, benefits, and compensation administration.Ensure compliance with ESA, WSIB, health & safety, and employment standards.Support recruiting, onboarding, and HR policies in coordination with Operations.Manage insurance, contracts, and professional service providers.Act as escalation point for employee relations issues as needed.Compliance & Governance
Support AS9100 top management responsibilities, including :Management Review inputs and action trackingRisk registers and mitigation plansEnsure documentation, records, and controls are audit-ready.Help formalize policies, procedures, and governance appropriate to company size.Strategic & Leadership Role
Act as a trusted advisor to the President, providing clear, concise insight.Translate financial data into actionable business recommendations.Build a scalable finance / admin structure that supports future growth or ownership transition.Mentor and develop staff within the finance / admin function.Qualifications
CPA designation strongly preferred.8–15 years experience in manufacturing or industrial SMEs .Proven experience managing finance + administration / HR functions .Strong understanding of job costing, overhead absorption, and manufacturing KPIs .Experience working with ERP systems and business intelligence tools.Comfortable in an owner-managed environment with evolving structure.Personal Attributes

Competitive and commensurate with experience, with an expected base salary range of $130,000–$145,000 , plus performance-based bonus and benefits.
