We are currently seeking a Cross Border Tax Assistant Manager to join our tax practice in Toronto or Vancouver. We are looking for an individual who is committed to a career in taxation and has the desire to take a lead role in managing tax engagements and contributing both to the growth of the firm and our clients.

Our tax practice offers the opportunity to work in a range of tax and succession planning areas including estate & trust compliance, personal and corporate tax planning, purchase and sale of private businesses, estate planning, and cross border investment and compliance. We are interested in meeting candidates with experience in any of these areas.

Your primary responsibilities will include :

  • Working closely with all Tax Partners and other Senior staff on personal tax compliance and tax advisory engagements
  • Manage and coordinate tax planning and compliance services for individuals requiring US and Canadian income or estate tax filings
  • Manage risk and financial performance of engagements, including billing, collections and project budgets
  • Review assessments and correspond with the IRS, state authorities and CRA on various issues
  • Build and manage client relationships at a senior level; advise clients by delivering high quality tax service and advice
  • Actively mentor and coach staff to their highest potential
  • Supporting and mentoring firm staff in respect of tax matters
  • Identifying client service opportunities

A successful candidate will have :

  • Desire to pursue a CPA designation or a U.S. Enrolled Agent designation
  • Knowledge in CaseWare, TaxPrep, Bloomberg Tax, CCH AnswerConnect and Microsoft Office
