Overview
We are seeking a Retired marine surveyor - Freelancer based in Metro Vancouver, Canada , to perform periodical port inspections. The role involves performing visual holds inspections, watertightness tests for holds (hose test), Draft Survey, sealing of holds, witnessing and documenting loading processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and detailed reporting. This is a field role, ideal for professionals with maritime inspection experience looking for combining their free time with periodical port inspections.

Working schedule
Working schedule : Flexible shifts on-call : Day-shifts or Night-shifts, depending on the Terminal's working schedule and the inspector's availability
Key Responsibilities / Scope of Works
- Visual Vessel Holds Inspection before loading
- Hose Test - watertightness test for holds
- Witness and document vessel loading operations
- Draft Survey (Initial / Final / Intermediate) of the vessel
- Seal vessel holds upon completion of loading
- Maintain detailed, hourly records of all operations using provided templates
- Provide real-time updates via WhatsApp reporting group
- Take Photos and Videos of the loading operations
- Prepare detailed inspection reports using provided templates
Qualifications & Requirements
Prior experience in marine cargo inspections and port operationsExperience conducting Draft SurveysFamiliarity with cargo hold inspections and sealing proceduresKnowledge of weighing, sampling, and vessel loading proceduresCar and a Valid BC driving licenceLegal authorization to work in CanadaStrong attention to detail and ability to document findings preciselyAbility to work independently in port environmentsGood communication skills and access to a smartphone for real-time reportingAvailability for on-call assignments based on port schedule#J-18808-Ljbffr
