Construction Equipment Manager

$110-$125K, based on experienced
Position Overview :
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Equipment Manager to oversee the daily operations of a mixed construction fleet and manage the shop team responsible for repairs and preventative maintenance. This role will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of all fleet maintenance activities, as well as ensuring operational efficiency, cost control, and safety compliance. The Equipment Manager will work closely with two Field Superintendents and report directly to the Controller.
Fleet Overview :
- Approx. 60 pieces of heavy iron
- 3–4 triaxle dump trucks
- Tag-along trailer
- 20+ light-duty vehicles (pickups / SUVs)
- Small tools and equipment
Direct Reports :
2–3 Mechanics1 Shop-HandKeyResponsibilities :
Oversee all day-to-day equipment repairs and preventative maintenanceSchedule and assign daily tasks for shop personnel; manage workloads efficientlyCoordinate with site teams to plan equipment availability and minimize downtimeEnsure compliance with all safety standards, including CVOR and inspection requirementsManage work orders (manual and electronic), documentation, and maintenance logsTrack fleet performance and ensure adherence to manufacturers' maintenance guidelinesCoordinate third-party vendors, subcontractors, and purchasing of parts / consumablesMonitor and improve shop and yard organization, cleanliness, and general upkeepHandle transportation logistics, equipment floats, and insurance requirementsTrain, mentor, and develop mechanics and shop team membersOversee CVOR updates and permit renewalsQualifications :
5+ years of experience managing fleet operations or heavy equipment maintenance in a construction or industrial environmentProven experience leading a team of mechanics or shop personnelSolid understanding of CVOR compliance, safety inspections, and preventative maintenance schedulingStrong organizational, communication, and leadership skillsFamiliar with inventory tracking, work order systems, and maintenance documentationAbility to prioritize, troubleshoot, and adapt in a fast-paced, hands-on environmentValid driver's license required; relevant certifications or trade background an assetWhy Join Us :
