The HSSE Advisor II p rovides essential Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (QHSSE) functions. Support large-scale, multi-service, domestic, international, and / or dynamic projects in achieving incident-free objectives and sustainability goals.

Roles and Responsibilities :

Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.

Review client QHSSE documentation, complete associate questionnaires and provide supporting information for project proposals.

Assist in the development of Project Execution Plans (PEPs), Emergency Response Plans (ERPs), Quality Plans, and associated documentation.

Support completion of worksite Hazard Identification (HAZID) registers.

Work with project teams, subcontractors, and vessel operators on project QHSSE matters.

Coordinate with providers to facilitate medical and / or QHSSE assessments, as required.

Coordinate with third-party vessel operators, security providers, vendors, and / or subcontractors to obtain necessary QHSSE / assurance documentation for compliance with client and / or Fugro requirements.

Conduct training needs assessment based on client, Fugro, and project requirements and support management team to facilitate necessary training where needed.

Attend project planning and kick-off meetings as required to provide input criteria related to QHSSE elements.

Facilitate field teams with relevant safety and other related information as needed.

Monitor and promote compliance with project and business Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Coordinate with project field teams in assisting with incident investigations promptly and elevate incident management accordingly.

Assist with the entry of all incidents into tracking database (IMPACT).

Perform periodic worksite QHSSE oversight visits and inspections.

Coordinate annual ISO internal and external audits and associated functions.

Facilitate workplace OH&S Committee meetings and activities.

Support management with promotion and implementation of local, regional, and corporate QHSSE initiatives.

Job Requirements :

Legally authorized to work in Canada without restrictions.

High school diploma or equivalent required. College or University level education preferred.

At least 2 years in a role that includes elements related to QHSSE.

Experience within the offshore energy, marine services and / or survey industry is highly desirable.

ISO 45001, 9001, and 14001 internal auditor certifications are a plus.

OH&S Committee, incident investigation, first aid are preferrable.

Certificates for travel offshore, including cold water survival and fit for work medical, should a site visit be required.

Any other QHSSE certifications or qualifications relevant to the industry.

Certified Engineering Technician / Technologist (CET) or related a plus.

Designation as Canadian Registered Safety Technician / Professional (CRST / P) preferred.

Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continual improvement of matters related to QHSSE.

Work primarily in an office setting, with ability to travel for site visits, inspections, incident investigations, client meetings, or other QHSSE-related functions.

Knowledge about provincial Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Act and Regulations, C-NLOPB and C-NSOPB Regulations and Guidelines, Transport Canada Marine OH&S Regulations, and other industry regulations / enforcement agencies’ regulations and standards.

Understanding of offshore industry safety requirements and programs including by not limited to Behaviour Based Safety, Permit to Work, Management of Change, Right to Refuse, and Stop Work Authority.

Experience working in the marine and energy sector and around ports and vessels.
