Opening Statement

The R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home is a Long-Term Care Home to 137 Residents and employs 250 staff in various Departments. Under the direction and supervision of the RN Charge Nurse &/or LPN, the Continuing Care Assistant (CCA), provides resident –focused, holistic care, within an interdisciplinary team consistent with the Mission, Vision, Values and philosophy of care of the RK Mac Donald Nursing Home

CORE COMPETENCIES: Resident centered focus; Communication; Conflict Management Self & Community Awareness; and Teamwork (fosters Teamwork)

Qualifications: Provincial certification in Continuing Care Assistant (CCA). Provincial CCA certification required for permanent employment. Registered member of the CCA Registry (Continuing Care Assistant Program – HANS). Certification in CPR, WHMIS, Food Handlers, Dementia/Alzheimer, Palliative care courses and gentle persuasion approach.

Hours of Work (subject to change) Float as required to fill vacant shifts for 4 hr. -6 hr., 8 hr., 10 hr., and 12 hr. shifts; as well as rotating weekends.

Shift Vary – 7am – 3 pm; 1 pm – 9 pm; 3 pm – 9 pm; 9 pm – 7 am; 7am-7 pm; 7pm – 7am; 8:30 pm – 8:30 am;

Salary $22.2259-24.0966 (experience as per Unifor contract pay scale) (Paid Breaks & 80 hrs. bi-weekly)
