This position is located at Hillsdale Terraces in Oshawa, Ontario.

Recreation Programmer

We are seeking multiple Recreation Programmers to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering meaningful recreation and leisure programs that promote engagement, enhance quality of life, and reflect the diverse interests and abilities of our residents in our Long-term care home.

Please note that temporary full- time (TFT) hours are also available.

The incumbent will :

• Develop and facilitate individual and group programs that align with residents¿ needs, preferences, and care plans.
• Create and deliver programming that is diverse, inclusive, and reflective of the cultural, spiritual, and religious backgrounds of residents through meaningful activities, observances, and partnerships with community faith groups.
• Support holistic wellness by addressing all dimensions of resident well-being through integrated, person-centered programs and opportunities.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support holistic resident care.
• Participate in resident assessments, care conferences, documentation, and program evaluations.
• Support special events, seasonal celebrations, and community partnerships.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends to meet programming needs.

Conditions of Employment

All applicants are expected to comply with the Region of Durham's Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct Policies throughout the recruitment process. The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check dated within two (2) months from date of hire. Additionally, tuberculosis screening will be required in accordance with the FLTC Act (O.Reg. 246 / 22). Proof of education, qualifications and any other job bona fide requirements will also be collected. Finally, compliance with the Mask Fit Testing Program is required and will be coordinated as part of the orientation process.
