Job Overview : The Life Enrichment Aide providing recreation and leisure programs is qualified by education and / or experience for the responsibilities of their position. The Life Enrichment Aide reports to Manager, Resident Experience, Volunteer and Support Services.
Qualifications / Skills / Education
- Hold a post-secondary diploma, degree, or certificate in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, gerontology, or other related field from an Ontario post-secondary institution.
- Hold an equivalent diploma, degree, or certificate granted in another jurisdiction, as deemed appropriate by the licensee.
- Possess, in the reasonable opinion of the licensee, the skills, knowledge, and experience necessary to effectively deliver recreational and social programs.
- Experience in long-term care preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to plan and lead programs for residents with cognitive impairments.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- AIS certificate for RAI documentation is preferred.
Responsibilities
Assist in the development and delivery of a diverse, person-centered recreational and social activities program.Implement daily activity programming under the direction of the Manager of Resident Experience, Volunteer and Support Services or delegate.Assess resident interests, needs, and abilities to develop appropriate individual and group programming.Evaluate program effectiveness and align with resident outcomes and legislative requirements.Maintain documentation such as attendance records, progress notes, assessments, and contributions to care plans.Develop and communicate an activity schedule that includes daytime, evening, and weekend offerings.Supervise and provide guidance to volunteers and students during programming.Support residents during outings and community excursions.Assist in the planning of the monthly activity calendar.Foster and maintain connections with the community to enhance resident engagement.Provide support to residents who are unable to independently participate in activities.Ensure the availability of appropriate supplies and equipment for programming.Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to resident experience.Maintain professional competency through in-services, workshops, and ongoing training.Attend all mandatory education sessions provided by Parkview Home.Participate in committees that enhance resident care and quality of life.Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic resident care.Adhere to all Parkview Home policies and procedures.Perform all other related duties as assigned.Parkview Services for Seniors is an equal opportunity employer.
