About the Job

• Plan and execute laser-material interaction experiments across a variety of substrates (e.g. polymers copper FR4 inks coatings).
• Develop and refine parameters for ablation processes : fluence repetition rate scan strategy focus height thermal profiles.
• Work with high-precision motion and beam delivery systems especially galvanometer (galvo) scan heads and XYZ gantries.
• Assist in the integration and tuning of laser modules optics and motion components within custom testbeds.
• Collaborate with firmware and software teams to build test automation and feedback tools for laser diagnostics and alignment.
• Capture and interpret experimental results using microscopy profilometry thermal imaging and vision systems.
• Document findings clearly and contribute to internal research reviews feasibility studies and design tradeoffs.
• Help translate R&D insights into system requirements proof-of-concept demos and early product features.

Working conditions

Working from the office in Waterloo at least three days per week.

Compensation

The expected base salary range for this role is CAD $85000-$110000 . Final compensation will be based on job-related skills experience and qualifications. This range reflects base pay only and does not include bonus eligibility or benefits.
