Signal Technician

Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Roads and Traffic Supervisor, the Signal Technician carries out electrical repairs and improvements at various City facilities and buildings. The incumbent is responsible for the maintenance, installation, and testing of all traffic control systems, ensuring the work is performed in accordance with City Safety Policies, procedures, Provincial Regulations, and Electrical Codes. The technician plans work and is responsible for acquiring materials to carry out the work, including efficient use and control of materials and equipment.
Work Hours
0730 hrs to 1600 hrs – Monday to Friday
Environment: Unionized
Hourly Rate: $39.30 per hour
Duration: Permanent Full-Time

Qualifications
- Two (2) years related experience as a Construction and Maintenance 309A Electrician or five (5) years’ experience as a Signal Technician.
- M.S.A. Level II Signal Technician Certification.
- Two (2) year college Electrical Technician diploma.
- Aerial Device training.
- Valid DZ Driver’s License.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints.
- Sufficient clerical ability to complete necessary reports, traffic protection plans, material requisitions, and daily activity diaries.
- Comprehensive knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including power supply, transformers, controllers, switches, pumps, and fixtures.
- Strong knowledge of traffic controllers and related equipment.
- Training in confined space entry, First Aid, and C.P.R.
- Must be available for on‑call rotation.
