Duties
- Verify project directives to ensure compliance with applicable policies.
- Modify existing network infrastructure designs and update documentation, including “as-built” diagrams.
- Supervise a team of 3–10 personnel.
- Operate a wide range of test equipment for data collection and analysis, including radio frequency (RF) receivers, signal analyzers, thermal analysis tools, and antenna configurations.
- Operate and maintain radio frequency (RF) measurement systems and communication equipment.
- Prepare technical reports for clients and provide guidance in accordance with policy.
- Conduct technical investigations, trials, and experiments on electronic communication systems and equipment.

The purpose of this process is to staff approximately 15 EL-06 positions and 8 EL-07 positions on an indeterminate (permanent) basis within the National Capital Region. Positions may be designated as English Essential or Bilingual and will require various security clearance levels. Please note : all roles involve full-time onsite work across multiple locations, which may require flexibility for regular travel. A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and used to staff identical or similar positions with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), language profiles, operational requirements, and conditions of employment at the Department of National Defence.

Operational Requirements
Willing and able to work overtime as required.Willing and able to work on weekends, holidays, and be on-call for emergencies.Willing and able to travel within Canada and internationally, as required.Willing and able to perform physically demanding tasks including safely lifting and carrying up to 40kg, climbing ladders and structures, spending prolonged periods on step ladders and working aloft, bending, and stooping.Willing and able to work in cramped and / or awkward positions, where flexibility of movement is limited.Willing and able to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adopt Protective Health Measures (PHMs).Willing and able to engage in field work in inclement weather on an occasional basis for extended periods of time.Depending on the position being staffed, some additional Operational requirements may be required as well as some of the operational requirements listed may be used as conditions of employment. Education

Experience
Experience supervising a team of three (3) or more people.Experience in the development, testing, and installation of satellite communications systems, Radio Frequency (RF), electronic infrastructure, or cryptographic or Video‑Audio‑Data equipment.Experience as a technologist with complex troubleshooting of electronic equipment and systems.Experience managing or maintaining electrical or electronic equipment on modern, complex, highly integrated electro‑mechanical or electronic equipment and systems.EL‑07 ONLY
Significant experience managing or maintaining electrical or electronic equipment on modern, complex, highly integrated electro‑mechanical or electronic equipment and systems.Experience providing strategic and technical advice and recommendations to senior management.Note : Defined as approximately four (4) years cumulative experience within an electronic or mechanical equipment environment. For government officials, senior executives are defined as director level (EX‑01, EX‑01 equivalent, or Col / Capt(N) or above). For industry, senior executives are defined as Director or Vice‑President and above.

Asset Education
Certified Electronic Technologist designation (CET).Successful completion of courses in Radio Frequency (RF) or Microwave theory and measurement techniques.Completion of an acceptable training program in electronics technology with specialization in communications, control, computer, robotics, or mechatronics.Asset Experience
