Based in Edmonton, our client is aleading designer, manufacturer, and marketer of single-use medical products tocustomers worldwide. Your Role &Responsibilities

The Information Systems (IS) departmentis responsible for our client’s global information technology (IT)infrastructure and the maintenance and development of various IT systems thatare critical to our client’s operation. In line with our organizational valueof innovation, and ourmitment to operational excellence, we are embarkingon a multi-year project to implement a single global instance ERP (EnterpriseResource Planning) system across all locations.

The ERP Project Manager is a strategicrole designed to guide our organization through a critical digitaltransformation to a new global ERP system, which will be a tier one system(i.e., SAP / Oracle / Microsoft / IFS). This role will be responsible for ensuringthe project is delivered on time, within scope, and budget, and meets thestrategic objectives of the organization. This role will drive the project fromplanning through to execution and post-implementation support, focusing onachieving optimal operational efficiency and scalability to support futuregrowth.

The ERP Project Manager will workclosely with senior leadership, including C-level executives, to ensure theproject aligns with strategic objectives. Collaboration with stakeholders atmultiple levels across manufacturing, operations, finance and IS is crucial tounderstanding the diverse needs of the business and ensuring the ERP systemsupports these areas effectively. It is also critical to establish and maintainstrong relationships with ERP vendors, consultants, and other third-partyservice providers to ensure access to the best resources, technologies, andexpertise.

Responsibilities

The following is a high-leveldescription of the role responsibilities and is not meant to be all-inclusive :

  • Lead the ERP project from inception topletion, including project planning, resource allocation, budgeting, and risk management.
  • In conjunction with vendors, develop a detailed project plan that includes milestones, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure a smooth and timely implementation.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations through regularmunication, workshops, and training sessions to ensure buy-in and support across the organization.
  • Oversee the system configuration to ensure it meets the specific needs of our global operations withoutpromising on system performance or future scalability.
  • Coordinate with vendors to understand system capabilities and manage vendor relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and enforce project management andernance frameworks to ensure adherence to best practices and standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure the ERP solution aligns with our strategic goals and operational needs.
  • Oversee a cross-functional project team, including IT, finance, operations, and external consultants, to ensure effective collaboration andmunication.
  • Develop and implement aprehensive change management strategy to facilitate user adoption and minimize disruption to business operations.
  • Monitor project progress, identify, and address any issues or delays, and provide regular updates to the executive team and project stakeholders.
  • Implement rigorous testing phases, including unit testing, system integration testing, and user acceptance testing, to ensure the system is reliable and meets all requirements before going live.
  • Establish a support structure for post-implementation, including training programs for end-users and centralized support (internal and / or outsourced) to address any issues promptly.
  • Ensurepliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 11) and industry best practices relevant to the medical products manufacturing sector.

This role is pivotal in overseeing theimplementation of a global ERP system along with other related systems. Thisrole demands a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and the capacityto foresee and mitigate potential issues before they arise. The incumbent isempowered to make strategic decisions that significantly influence theproject's direction and oue. Given the direct interaction with financialsystems, a solid understanding of financial implications is crucial for makinginformed decisions.

This role would typically solve thefollowing problems using their own judgment, experience, and expertise :

Questions, requests for information fromexternal customers and stakeholders

Decision-making within this role isinformed by extensive experience with ERP systems and otherplimentaryenterprise applications, adherence to industry best practices, and a proactiveapproach to keeping abreast of emerging technologies.

Errors in judgment or execution cansignificantly impact the organization's reputation and the trust placed in itsoperations. Given the critical nature of the systems and processes involved,such errors could lead to financial impact or adversely affect customerservice. It is essential for the role to be executed with precise care anddiligence to minimize the risk of errors and their potential consequences.

Responsibilities :

  • Collaborates with Project Manager on the development and review of project plans, activities, schedules and resources.
  • Thinks strategically and works with a myriad of stakeholders and resources from multiple department groups to assist with the delivery of project requirements.
  • Provides core information, develops and maintains activity schedules and provides information for reporting requirements.
  • Conducts necessary research and captures information to maintain project data worksheets required to determine ongoing scope of work.
  • Can be tasked to manage junior project coordinator staff.
  • Makes decisions to routine problems within established guidelines.
  • Can work independently with little oversight.
  • Makes decisions within scope of position and authority as well as independent decisions regarding planning, organizing and scheduling work for project technical resources.
  • Makes decisions using established guidelines, procedures and / or policies.
  • Considered a fully qualified project coordinator. Works within established guidelines
  • Research, document and maintain core project data
  • Assist the Project Manager with project reporting and documentation requirements
  • Plan and coordinate project activities for timelypletions.
  • Collaborate with IS technical resources and IS SME’s to assign appropriate activities, negotiate schedules andplete documentation
  • Manage IS Change Management and data tracking requirements for the project
  • Act as the point of contact andmunicate to appropriate work stream participants
  • Attend and / or lead project meetings and follow-up with outstanding tasks.
  • Work with Project Manager and ISmunications regarding any business wide impact activities

    The role is based in the Cambridge orEdmonton location and may require occasional travel domestically andinternationally. Typical office hours are Monday to Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 30p.m. However, due to the nature of the work, work outside of typical hoursincluding evenings and weekends may be required.
