Qualifications and Experience

Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for) Committed to a co-planning model within a learning "pod" of three to four divisions Willingness to share space and resources in a learning "pod" of three to fur divisions within a flexible learning space environment Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects at the elementary years level Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students Excellent interpersonal, communications, collaboration and organization skills Experience / training / knowledge of Social Emotional Learning. Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student feels a sense of belonging Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class composition Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning Demonstrated use of classroom management practices that are pro-active and maintain student dignity Demonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity Working knowledge of the new curriculum to plan effectively Working knowledge of Performance Based Assessment, Balanced Literacy, Phonemic Awareness Development Working knowledge of current practice in teaching numeracy Ability to use performance standards in reading, writing, numeracy and social responsibility Committed to individualized instruction and group instruction utilizing a variety of effective strategies and techniques Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social, emotional, and learning difficulties Ability to assist in the implementation of individualized education plans for low incidence students Knowledge and understanding regarding the needs of autistic children, commitment to use of visual supports Experience working with educational assistants Committed to working with staff on the school plan and with professional development Ability to relate well with students parents and staff members Committed to following the goals and strategies outlined in the school improvement plan The Distinct Nature of Teaching and Learning at Anne Roberts Young Elementary SchoolAnne Roberts Young Elementary School was designed and built to facilitate a distinct learning environment. This process involved visitations to schools around the country, community consultation meetings and several design meetings with a cross-section of staff from around the district. These conversations on learning and learning spaces helped shape the architecture of the school. Current salary grid is $63,492 - $108,576 Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance.
