EHS Manager
Position : Plant EH&S Manager at ADM’s Midland Flour Mill in Midland, Ontario. This is a salaried exempt level position reporting to the Plant Manager.
Pre‑employment Requirement : Successful completion of a pre‑employment medical and reference check.
About the Role
The Plant Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager provides strategic leadership, direction, and oversight for all health, safety, and environmental programs within the facility. The successful candidate will partner closely with plant leadership and employees to drive a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and support continuous improvement initiatives in alignment with ADM standards and expectations.
Position Responsibilities
- Ensure that the working environment is always safe by applying company standards, correcting unsafe behaviours and conditions via regular inspections.
- Participate in accident and incident investigations and follow up on corrective actions.
- Champion near‑miss reporting.
- Maintain a working knowledge of provincial and federal law related to the Canada Labour Code and Canada Occupational Health & Safety Regulations.
- Support workplace health and safety committees.
- Collaborate with the HSE Area Manager to implement ADM principles related to health, safety and environment.
- Provide mandatory training to managers, co‑workers and contractors on how to implement ADM principles.
- Develop, implement and maintain programs, records and reports related to health and safety and environmental compliance.
- Deliver public presentations and training to leadership and frontline workers.
- Communicate daily with management on facility safety, health and environmental matters.
- Enhance management and employee engagement for safety through effective leadership and influence.
- Mentor staff on the use of Safe Work Permits and Last Minute Risk Assessments.
Environmental Responsibilities
Maintain compliance with site environmental programs including stormwater management, hazardous and universal waste, asbestos management, and spill prevention plans.Conduct inspections, training and reporting in accordance with regulatory and ADM requirements.Partner with the Area Environmental Manager to maintain the facility Environmental Management System (EMS) and required environmental record‑keeping.What You Bring
Credentials and Experience
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, waivable with extraordinary experience.Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or actively working toward CRSP certification.Environmental certification such as EP (Environmental Professional), CET, or equivalent environmental compliance experience considered an asset but not required.Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a dedicated environmental, health, and safety role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.Skills and Competencies
Effective leadership and management skills.Effective oral and written communication skills, including public presentation ability.Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn and utilize other standardized systems.Proven ability to work effectively with a team of leaders and frontline workers.Proven ability to recognize hazards, assess risk and recommend controls.Working Conditions
Position requires the ability to work in a variety of environments : office and varying indoor and outdoor environments, including extreme heat and cold.Requires ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods and to climb stairs.What’s In It For You
