Assistant Controller

Job Description

Our client a public energy related organization is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their busy team. You will be a CPA with progressive industry experience including exposure to leadership (direct or indirect) of a small team. Those newly qualified or 1-2 years post designation with leadership exposure will be given preference.

• Reporting to the Controller your duties will include;
• Period close of the GL and account reconciliations ensuring accuracy of the financial statements.
• Prepare standard cost analysis and resolution of variances.
• Review and manage lease and fixed asset schedules.
• Review Government Remittances including GST and PST.
• Coordinate and prepare information for the year-end audit.
• Lead and support direct reports including guidance training and mentorship.
• Provide support for projects including process improvements and system implementation.
• Work closely with operations to ensure open communication to ensure results are as expected.
• Other duties as required.
