Mechanical Engineer 1 (Junior Engineer)

This position is primarily responsible for supporting all phases of the design and development of custom mechanical and electro-mechanical hardware for LB Foster’s friction management systems including concept, design, verification, validation, manufacture, and systems implementation. The individual is also responsible for working with the engineering team to ensure design solutions meet the project and customer requirements and specifications.

Essential Functions :

• Support the development conceptual and detailed designs of custom mechanical and electro-mechanical systems for train-mounted applications
• Support design validation and verification using FEA modelling, prototyping, and field assessment
• Generate manufacturing drawings
• Conduct experiments, and perform data acquisition and analysis
• Support manufacturing and conduct QA
• Generate trial plans, reports, manuals, and other documents
• Participate in trials, installations, and tests of equipment in the field
