Transform your passion for the outdoors into a summer leadership position by guiding 2-to-6-day canoe trips through the heart of the Canadian wilderness. As a Canoe Trip Leader, you’ll manage every aspect of the backcountry experience—from route navigation and safety to meal prep. More than a guide, you are a mentor, empowering campers to build independence, self-reliance, and a deep respect for nature. Join our tripping team to sharpen your professional outdoor skills while shaping the next generation of explorers.

Dates: June 19 – August 22, 2026

Job Duties

• Route planning for canoe trips based on campers age and skill
• Prepare menus for trips based on campers food needs
• Lead canoe trips
• Responsible for all food and equipment for each trip
• Maintain equipment in good working order
• Follow our no trace camping philosophy
• Other duties when in-camp, as needed

Minimum Requirements

• 19+ years old
• Bronze Cross certification
• First Aid and CPR certification
• Canoeing, tripping and camping experience
• Experience working with children
• Good organizational skills
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Flexible, reliable and responsible

Nice to Have

• Boating License and experience driving boats
• NLS certification and Lifeguarding experience
• Wilderness First Aid Training

About Mi-A-Kon-Da
Founded in 1955, Camp Mi-A-Kon-Da is a traditional summer camp for girls ages 7-16. The camp is situated on Birch Island, a 23-acre private island on Lake Wah Wash Kesh near Parry Sound, Ontario.
